HSE to Participate in NAUKA 0+ Festival
This year’s NAUKA 0+ festival aims to turn science into something anyone can grasp. At the festival, various laboratories and universities open their doors to anyone and everyone with an interest in science and research. What will people learn about HSE at the festival? What new things will they see and discover? Let’s find out!
Lectures by HSE Professors and Researchers
Leading scientists from the Higher School of Economics will speak with guests about the future and the phenomena that guide human behaviour. Vasily Klucharev, who is a Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences and the head of the HSE School of Psychology, will give a lecture entitled ‘Neuroeconomics: How Our Brains Make Decisions.’ During the lecture, Professor Klucharev will discuss the science of neuroeconomics and allow listeners to formulate or change their opinions on problems surrounding free decision-making and behavioural mechanisms. Next, Liliana Proskuryakova, Associate Professor in the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge, will uncover the possibilities of energy sources of the future during her lecture ‘Renewable Energy Sources in Russia – at Home, in the Village, and in the City.’ We might be able to survive after our coal sources are depleted in 100 years and gas and oil in 50.
Address: Moscow State University’s Shuvalov Building, auditorium B5 (27 Lomonosovsky Prospect, Bld. 4)
Date & Time: October 9, Vasily Klucharev – 11:00 a.m., Liliana Proskuryakova – 12:15 p.m.

Scientific Developments at HSE MIEM
On October 7-9 the legendary HSE Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE) will visit the Expocenter as part of the NAUKA 0+ festival and introduce the world to some of the groundbreaking discoveries being made at the institute. MIEM researchers and engineers will openly discuss the developments they have made, and guests of the festival will have the opportunity to do things like test a virtual reality helmet, look at themselves in a smart mirror, become acquainted with different robots (including Darwin-Mini, which teaches you to programme and dance at the same time), and much more. Guests will also learn more about the institute’s research and educational programmes, get a feel for their abilities at the institute’s various workshops, conduct physics and chemistry experiments, fly a quadcopter, and play different brain games with MIEM HSE students. And those who want to get a better feel for the institute’s academic environment can visit MIEM’s campus on November 13th during Open House.
Address: Expocenter (Moscow), 14 Krasnopresenskaya Nab., Pavilion 2, Halls 4,5, and 6.
