Predictors of the choice of strategy of behavior in intercultural conflict: A study in Russia and Germany
On November 22 Anastasia Batkhina (research fellow of the HSE) took part in the "Culture matters" research seminar with the report "Predictors of the choice of strategy of behavior in intercultural conflict: A study in Russia and Germany".
The presented research was aimed at studying such predictors of the choice of behavior strategy in intercultural conflict, such as individual values and fear of intercultural communication. A comparative analysis was conducted using data (N = 455) from Germany (N = 221) and Russia (N = 234) in order to establish some universal mechanisms and provide a more holistic understanding of this phenomenon.
Indeed, the results showed a common mechanism for both countries and discussed taking into account the historical and socio-cultural context of the two countries.
Some of the results of this research project will be published in the article “Values and intergroup anxiety as predictors of the choice of strategy of behavior of Russians in intercultural conflict" in the journal 'Social Psychology and Society' in 2019.
